Glasgow City Council to settle equal pay claims
Glasgow City Council is to pay around £770m to settle equal pay claims.
Around 19,000 former and current workers will receive the money and Scotland's largest local authority agreed the deal after plans to sell key council-owned buildings including the City Chambers and Kelvingrove Art Gallery were settled.
Council leader Susan Aitken said she was “delighted” the authority can “deliver the final stage of pay justice” that women working for the authority “fought long and hard for”.
