"Go the Extra Mile" challenge to replace Legal Walks
A challenge has been issued to the Scottish legal community to take part in Go the Extra Mile for Justice Day on 5 November, by getting sponsors as they attempt to reach their chosen target in aid of the Access to Justice Foundation.
The Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to funding and supporting access to justice, normally raises funds through activities including the annual Legal Walks, which take place in cities around the country including Glasgow and Edinburgh. These have been put on hold due to the COVID-19 restrictions, and the Foundation is instead asking members of the profession to challenge themselves in order to give free legal help to those in need.
The Go the Extra Mile for Justice challenge tasks participants with travelling a set number of miles in any form they like, from walking to running, skipping, cycling, or even hopping. For every mile they complete, participants can ask friends and family to sponsor them.
Whilst the challenge runs until the end of 2020, the Foundation is encouraging people all to sign up and take part on Thursday 5 November, which falls during this year's Pro Bono Week, 2-6 November.
