Kenneth Norrie to retire from Strathclyde University

Strathclyde Law School has announced the retirement of Professor Kenneth Norrie, and his appointment as Professor Emeritus.

Initially a lecturer at Dundee and then at Aberdeen, Professor Norrie has given 33 years’ service to Strathclyde. Although he has published extensively across a range of areas, including trusts, delict and Scottish legal history, he is best known for his contributions to family law, particularly child protection, and the law relating to same sex relationships. He has been an academic adviser to the Scottish Parliament and was most recently an adviser to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry.

Professor Adelyn Wilson, head of Strathclyde Law School, commented: "Kenneth has given exceptional service to Scots law throughout an impressive career. Generations of students have been the lucky beneficiaries of his unique and impactful teaching, and Strathclyde alumni look back at Kenneth’s lectures with a smile. We now look forward to the contributions he will continue to make to Strathclyde Law School as Professor Emeritus."

Professor Norrie responded: "It has been a privilege and a joy to spend my whole academic career teaching the lawyers of the future."
