LCF to host Moderator Wallace for interview
The Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship in Scotland will welcome the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Lord Wallace of Tankerness QC, next week for an evening of questions and discussion.
Installed yesterday as only the third lay Moderator since 1567, Lord Wallace is a longstanding elder at St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall. Born in Annan, he studied law at Cambridge and Edinburgh and practised as an advocate until his election in 1983 as MP for Orkney & Shetland. He served as an MP for 18 years, and following the establishment of the Scottish Parliament as MSP for Orkney from 1999 until 2007. He was leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats from 1992 until 2005, and Deputy First Minister of Scotland from 1999 until 2005. Elevated to the House Lords in 2007, from 2013 until 2015 he served as Deputy Leader of the House of Lords. Between 2010 and 2015 he was Advocate General for Scotland.
Lord Wallace has agreed to be interviewed by Janys Scott QC and to answer questions about his life, faith, aspirations for the Church of Scotland and his views on pressing issues for Christian lawyers.
