Lord Beckett to chair Judicial Institute
Lord Beckett has been appointed as chair of the Judicial Institute for Scotland.
The Lord President made the appointment, which takes effect from 6 February 2023, after Lord Armstrong intimated his intention to resign as chair.
The Lord President has also appointed Lady Drummond to succeed Lord Beckett as vice chair with effect from the same date.
Lord Armstrong was appointed vice chair in 2018 and chair in 2020. His period as chair coincided with the substantial disruption and change brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing digitisation of the courts. The Lord President has thanked Lord Armstrong for his exceptional contribution to the Judicial Institute during his time in office.
