MacRoberts reports growth on back of investment
Commercial law firm MacRoberts has announced a rise in turnover and profits for its 2018-19 financial year, despite the unstable political landscape.
Revenue in the 12 months to 30 April 2019 was up by 4% from £18.03 to £18.75m, while profits rose by 12% from £5.27m.
The firm said its results came against a backdrop of "continued investment in people, best available technology, flexible working practices and fairer remuneration structures". It has more than doubled its non-partner bonuses, including a firm wide bonus for every member of staff.
It has also recorded a number of recent tender successes, having been appointed to act for Cala Homes and secured a place on the newly established legal panel for the Robertson Group of construction and support services businesses, as well as the Crown Commercial Services Framework and all six lots on the Scottish Government Legal Services Framework. Its Real Estate team was named Property Team of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2018 in London.
MacRoberts is also doing equally well in the public sector, having recently secured all six lots on the Scottish Government Legal Services Framework after a highly competitive tender process. This followed their appointment to the Crown Commercial Services Framework in 2018, which covers the whole UK public sector.
Laura Wilson, director of Business Development & Marketing, commented: "We invested in overhauling our bid processes and methodology. The legal services market is highly competitive and we are seeing the rise of procurement departments, who seek quality of service and value for money from their legal suppliers. I am very pleased that we have been able to demonstrate our capability across the firm with these recent prestigious appointments."
Managing partner Neil Kennedy added: "Our recent tender wins and pleasing financial performance is testament to the hard work by everyone at MacRoberts. I am very proud of my team here and look forward to continuing our success as we grow and develop together."
