Nine Scots named in Pinsent Masons promotions round

31st March 2022 | careers

Six Pinsent Masons lawyers based in the multinational law firm's Scottish offices have been named in a 23-strong list of newly promoted partners across the firm.

They include Glasgow-based Geraldine Kelm, head of account management for Vario Flexible Services in UK and Asia Pacific. Also in Glasgow, Katherine Metcalfe, a litigator specialising in advice on health and safety and environmental matters, pensions specialist Cameron McCulloch, renewable energy property lawyer David Ross, and corporate lawyer Brian Thumath, have all been recognised.

The sixth new Scottish based partner is Claire Scott in the Aberdeen office, who advises on employment law particularly in the energy and transport sectors.

Another 11 promotions come from Pinsent Masons' London and Birmingham offices, and a further six are in France, Germany, Dubai, South Africa and Australia.

In addition, senior associates in each of the firm’s three Scottish offices have been promoted to legal director: Shonagh Brown (Banking, Aberdeen), Sarah Munro (Employment, Edinburgh) and Fiona Rossetter (Construction Advisory & Disputes, Glasgow).

Senior partner Richard Foley commented: "The talent amongst our newly promoted colleagues this year is, once again, fantastic. The diversity of experience across sectors, disciplines and broader professional expertise will enable us to continue to grow our business and redefine how we collaborate with our clients.

"The provision of legal services has evolved beyond black letter law, and we’ve seen the benefit of combining stellar legal expertise with innovative, creative client-led solutions from across a broad suite of industries. Pinsent Masons has been at the forefront of this evolution and I’m proud to see that our 2022 cohort of new partners specialise in a range of legal and professional expertise from across our multinational network."

Katharine Hardie, Pinsent Masons chair of Scotland and Northern Ireland, added: "The talent amongst our newly promoted colleagues this year is, once again, fantastic. The diversity of experience across sectors, and legal disciplines combined with broader professional expertise will enable us to continue to grow our business and redefine how we collaborate with and service our clients."
