Registers announce March restart for application record
The Land Register application record and the Register of Sasines will fully reopen on 1 March 2021, Registers of Scotland has announced.
The date has been agreed with the Law Society of Scotland. It means that advance notices which were extended by the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 will expire 10 days later, on 11 March 2021.
Any application for registration of a deed protected by such an advance notice should be submitted online by midnight on Wednesday 10 March. Any associated papers to be submitted via the non-digital documents process must be received in RoS offices by 9 March at the very latest. This will ensure it can be taken onto the application record before the protected period expires.
Registers suspended the reception of all paper documents as the coronavirus lockdown started, but developed a digital application system which has enabled the property market to return to normal operation.
Live advance notices will continue to offer protection until the end of 11 March or until the rest of the statutory 35-day period has run out, whichever date is later.
