Registers reports fees to rise in October
Fees for reports in the property registers will rise by a standard £10 from 5 October 2020, Registers of Scotland has announced.
Jennifer Henderson the Keeper, is exercising her power in the Registers of Scotland (Fees) Order 2014 to vary the fees by up to £10 every two years.
Her order will increase the fees charged in parts 1-4 of the 2014 Order, which covers the Land Register, the Register of Sasines and the Chancery and Judicial Registers.
Parts 5-7 of the 2014 Order, which include the Crofting Register, the Register of Community Interests in Land, searching and copy services, and rejection fees, will remain unchanged.
In her latest weekly blog, the Keeper said she was exercising her power to will support Registers’ financial position and reduce the potential demands on the Scottish Government budget overall.
She commented: "We have not changed our statutory fees since 2011 and, even with this small increase, the fees continue to remain low in relation to the overall costs of transacting on a property.
"In due course I hope this action will be superseded by a full fee review including 12 weeks' public consultation and affirmative procedure in the Scottish Parliament."
