Scottish Mediation to hold seminar on Ontario rules
A open seminar on how mandatory mediation works in Ontario, Canada is to be held by Scottish Mediation.
Nearly 20 years ago, mediation became a required step in most civil litigation proceedings in three major Ontario cities. Benefits claimed for the move include shorter time to settle cases, lower cost to litigants, and increased satisfaction among lawyers and parties.
Now, as part of its Bringing Mediation into the Mainstream programme, Scottish Mediation has invited Ontario Lawyer and mediator Jennifer Egsgard to explain how it works and give details of an evaluation as well as current lawyer views.
For the past two years Ms Egsgard has chaired a committee of the Ontario Bar Association looking at whether mandatory mediation ought to be expanded to more areas of the Province.
The event takes place on Tuesday 9 March, from 5pm-6pm. Click here for further details and to register.
