Scottish Standard Clauses new edition published
A new edition of the Scottish Standard Clauses for house sales and purchases has been published, to come into effect on 1 March 2021.
The clauses, which are not obligatory but are commonly used by solicitors, were last revised more than two years ago. Revision work was postponed due to the pandemic, but as the market has returned towards normality it was thought appropriate to finalise the new, fourth edition.
The drafting team has published a note on the changes that have been agreed for this edition – and on some that were proposed but decided against.
Both the clauses and the explanatory note can be found at this link, along with previous editions.
