Scullion LAW charity will campaign runs for sixth year
An annual campaign which provides free wills for the over-55s while generating funds for Marie Curie Scotland, a charity supporting the terminally ill, will run for the sixth consecutive year at Glasgow and Hamilton legal firm Scullion LAW.
To date a total of £155,000 has been generated for the charity through legacies and donations under the scheme, with Scullion LAW providing more than 700 free wills over the past five years. If two people reside at the same address and wish to make a will, only one needs to be over 55 to qualify.
This year the firm hopes to take the number of free wills provided to past the 1,000 mark.
Gordon Lennox, senior private client solicitor at Scullion LAW, commented: "We provide this service quite simply because we care.
"The way of the world right now is of huge concern to us all, so if we can help provide some positivity and peace of mind to those using the service, then there is no work we can do that carries greater community value. We are committed to the community."
Due to the current health emergency the firm will take appointments over the phone, and also via Facetime and Skype until further notice. An online "make a will questionnaire" is also available to download from its website.
Nigel Gorvett, head of legacies at Marie Curie, said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Scullion LAW and everyone in the community for helping us to raise such as substantial amount of future income for the charity to provide hands-on care and support to people and families suffering from a terminal illness. This amount is really outstanding and we can’t thank Scullion LAW enough for the support offered to Marie Curie both inside and outside of work via fundraising and this free will scheme."
