Sheriff Lindsay Foulis retires from Perth bench
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis, resident sheriff at Perth Sheriff Court, retired yesterday after more than 20 years on the bench.
Sheriff Principal Marysia Lewis paid tribute to Sheriff Foulis, while the Society of Procurators & Solicitors in the City and County of Perth, and court staff, recognised his service since his appointment as a floating sheriff in 2000, following a career in practice as a solicitor in Dundee from 1981.
Sheriff Foulis has also contributed more than 120 bi-monthly columns to the Journal, covering all the recent case law on civil procedure. His final column will be published this month.
In his farewell remarks, Sheriff Foulis said: "As a solicitor I associated Perth Sheriff Court with sheriffs John Wheatley and John McInnes... During my time on the bench in Perth, I have striven to maintain the very high standards they set and if I have come close to achieving that I am more than content."
