Tony Lenehan to lead Faculty's criminal lawyers
Tony Lenehan has taken up the post of President of the Scottish Criminal Bar Association.
Previously Vice President, Mr Lenehan takes over from Ronnie Renucci QC, who stepped down after two years following his election as Vice Dean of Faculty.
An election for Vice President will be held in due course. There will be two candidates, Jennifer Bain and Susan Duff.
In further moves, Kevin Henry has become the SCBA’s secretary, succeeding Wendy Hay, and Kenneth Cloggie is the new treasurer, replacing Stephen McCloy.
Mr Lenehan commented: "The roll call of past Presidents and chairs of our association makes for humbling reading and Ronnie Renucci’s contribution is, even in that august company, unsurpassed. Having demonstrated his ability to rise to meet unprecedented challenges, our association’s loss is the wider Faculty’s gain.
"It is an honour to be elected and I am committed to maintaining the association’s strengthened relationships with the courts, the Crown and solicitors to sustain and promote the best access to justice."
