Two counsel named for Sheku Bayoh inquiry
Two members of the Faculty of Advocates have been appointed as counsel to the inquiry into the death of Sheku Bayoh.
Former Vice Dean of Faculty Angela Grahame QC has been appointed leading counsel, and Laura Thomson, advocate, junior counsel, to the inquiry which will examine the circumstances of Mr Bayoh's death in police custody in Kirkcaldy in 2015.
Before calling to the bar, Ms Thomson had a career in Crown Office, including the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexpected deaths and conducting fatal accident inquiries. She served as an advocate depute from 2009-12.
The public inquiry, due to begin later this year, will be chaired by retired judge Lord Bracadale.
