UK Law Societies to close Brussels office
The joint Brussels office of the three UK Law Societies is to close in November.
For the past 31 years the office has represented the interests of UK solicitors in their dealings with the European Union. It also provided opportunities for trainee solicitors to learn about the workings of the EU at close quarters.
Since Brexit, however, its workload has fallen and the Law Society of England & Wales now wishes to redeploy its staff on the additional work due to the UK seeking trade deals with more non-EU countries.
Solicitors responded with sadness to the news after the move was disclosed on LinkedIn by LSEW Past President David Greene.
