Will Aid seeks more firms as Lewis boosts 2022 campaign
The Will Aid charity is claiming a boost for this year's campaign after support from money saving expert Martin Lewis saw a rush of enquiries.
After Mr Lewis highlighted the campaign on his ITV show earlier this week, Will Aid received more than 1,000 enquiries in just one hour.
The annual appeal sees solicitors across the UK volunteer their time to write wills during November, inviting clients to make an upfront donation to Will Aid in place of a fee. The suggested donation is £100 for a single will, or £180 for a pair of mirror wills.
Will Aid is now urging more solicitors to sign up to the campaign to help meet the demand. More than 320 legal firms are already taking part, from Devon to the Highlands. Donations to the campaign are shared by Will Aid’s nine partner charities, operating in the UK and around the world.
Campaign director Peter de Vena Franks commented: "We are seeing an incredibly high number of enquiries this year, with more than 15,000 made so far – and our solicitors are working hard to meet the demand.
"Likewise, our partner charities are working tirelessly in the face of the cost-of-living crisis and war in Ukraine – which have seen the need for their services significantly increase.
"We want to ensure both those charities and the vulnerable people in our communities receive the support they need – and as such are calling on firms across the UK to join the campaign."
He added: "Participating solicitors regularly see Will Aid clients return for additional services and have even been highlighted in the national and regional press for their incredible work."
